Talented Epsom Downs defender and twice ‘Player of The Season’ Daniel Parsons, has confessed that he is battling a booze, drugs and gambling addiction.
Parson has missed several games this season already after coming home in the early hours absolutely smashed.
In some instances, Parsons has turned up to games, off his trolley and sporting drink related injuries.
“ I have a problem, i have liased with the club officials and we’re working together to try get me back on the right tracks. I apologise to the team, the shareholders, the fans and anyone else involved in the club for my actions. I just cant help, booze is taking over my life. “
Parsons is widely regarded as one of the best wing full backs in the league, but his recent troubles have been hindrance to the club.
Secretary Mike Holland spoke of his disappointment.
“ Its a shame. He’s a great player and when he’s not off his tits he makes a difference. When he’s not here we lack width, and i end up playing at full back, which is not ideal as it means we have to put a right footer on the left, and i end up being further forward than most as well. “
Epsom will need all hands on deck this weekend as they face a difficult home tie in the Senior cup V Prem side Grunwald, who currently sit mid table in the Premiership.
“ Grunwald will be a good test for us. Im hoping we have a full quota of players as im away, “ said Holland, “ we could really use Danny P in a non mongo’d condition. Myself and Mellberg (Manager – James Baker) will have a turd in his beer and hopefully persuade him to turn up early and fresh. “
